Chocolate, Burgundy and a Little Metallic: What Fall Looks Like on the Floor

Something shifted in the fall clothing deliveries this year, and it is easy to name once you see the racks together: chocolate brown has taken over from black, burgundy is doing the work red used to do, and there is metallic thread in things that used to be plain. Here is the fall story as it actually looks on the floor at 212 Avenue H in Marble Falls.

Most of what follows lives in The Autumn Social Collection and Midnight & Mocha, if you would rather just browse the whole thing.

Chocolate brown is doing everything black used to

This is the clearest trend in the room. Chocolate is warmer against most skin tones than black, it reads as considered rather than default, and it plays beautifully with gold jewelry — which, conveniently, is most of our jewelry case.

More of the same in Tops.

Burgundy, and a little shine

Burgundy is the season's other anchor, and this year it keeps showing up with metallic worked into the fabric rather than sequins stuck on top. It is a much easier way to wear shine in the daytime.

Animal print is quietly everywhere this fall, but it has gone tonal — leopard in oatmeal and brown rather than high-contrast black on gold. It functions almost as a neutral, which means it will go with more of your closet than you expect.

The suede-look pieces

Several of this season's best styles are named for suede, and they are among the most-asked-about things we have. A note we would rather make plainly: style names are not fabric content. A top called "suede" may be a suede-look woven rather than leather, and the brands do not always publish the composition. The sewn-in label is the authority.

If the fiber content matters to you — for care, for comfort, or because you do not wear animal products — call (830) 693-7573 and we will read the label to you before you order. We would much rather answer that on the phone than have you guess.

Dresses that survive a temperature swing

Hill Country October does whatever it likes, so the useful dress right now is one that works with bare arms at two in the afternoon and a jacket by seven. The full run is in Dresses.

That is the whole trick in one picture: a dress you can wear on its own at two o'clock, and a leopard jacket thrown over it by seven.

And when the evening turns, Outerwear has the layer that goes over it.

Fine knits, for the layer underneath

The short-sleeve fine-knit sweater is the most useful thing to arrive this month and the least photogenic, which is why it gets overlooked. It works under a jacket without bulk at the shoulder and stands alone indoors.

Finish it with the right accessories

Tonal leopard and chocolate both want warm metal rather than silver. The jewelry case is mostly gold, the accessories wall has the scarves and hats, and if you carry a water bottle everywhere, the Hands-Free Bags now come in merlot and red wine corduroy, which is almost unfairly on-season.

Sizing, before you order

Our brands do not size identically, and that is the single most common reason something has to come back. Before you order online, it is worth two minutes with the right guide:

Or skip the guides entirely: call (830) 693-7573 and we will measure the actual garment for you — bust, waist and length on the piece in our hands, not a chart. Jennifer and Britney do this all day and are very good at it.

Stay in the loop

Join the Accents VIP list for first looks at new arrivals, trunk show invitations and event news, and follow @AccentsBoutiqueTX on Instagram and TikTok, or Accents Boutique on Facebook. New pieces land on the racks faster than they land on the website, and that is where you will see them first.

Come see the colors in person

Chocolate and burgundy are both colors a screen renders badly, so if you are deciding between them, the racks will settle it in thirty seconds. We are at 212 Avenue H in Marble Falls, women-owned and serving the Hill Country with style since 1992. Shipping and returns are answered on our FAQ page.
