Merle Norman does not run a mail-a-sample program for the public. Sampling happens in studio, which is the point of the model — you get to see the product on your own face, in real light, with someone who knows the range.

Hygiene has been part of the thinking for a long time. Merle Norman introduced Lip Bubbles back in 1961 specifically so customers could sample lip products cleanly.

Merle Norman lists five: Foundation Check (finding your shade, formula and finish), Express Facials, Express Makeovers, Skin Assessments, and Special Event Makeovers for weddings, prom and similar.

The founder, Merle Nethercutt Norman, was mixing her original three products in her own kitchen in the 1920s. The first Merle Norman studio opened in Santa Monica, California in 1931. The company is still family owned and operated.
