Brighton Warranty: What's Covered and for How Long

Brighton backs its pieces, but the terms differ a good deal by category — and a handbag has to be registered before its warranty means anything. Here is how it actually works, straight from Brighton's own published policy.

Coverage by Category

How long is the warranty on Brighton jewelry?

One year from the date of purchase, for the original owner. It covers manufacturer defects in materials or workmanship. Normal wear and tear is not included.

Coverage is calculated from the original purchase date, not from when you started wearing the piece. Brighton Insiders at the higher reward tiers get longer coverage — see Brighton Insider Warranty Perks below.

Do Brighton handbags have a longer warranty than jewelry?

Yes. Leather and microfiber handbags carry two years; straw handbags carry one year. The important catch is that the bag must be registered — an unregistered Brighton handbag receives no warranty coverage at all.

Is there a warranty on Brighton watches?

Brighton splits it. The mechanism is covered for five years. The battery, band, casing and crystal are covered for one year against manufacturing defects. Water damage is specifically excluded.

Do Brighton sunglasses and readers have a warranty?

One year against manufacturer defects. It applies to original, unaltered items and to the original owner, and it excludes normal wear and tear.

Is Brighton footwear covered?

No. Brighton does not offer a warranty on footwear. It is the one category with no coverage, which is worth knowing before you buy.

Do small accessories have their own term?

Small accessories carry a one-year warranty, the same as jewelry and eyewear.

Brighton Insider Warranty Perks

Do Brighton Insiders get a longer warranty?

Yes. Brighton's free Insider rewards program adds warranty time at its higher tiers. Brighton's tier chart lists the Brightonista tier (spending $500–$999 a calendar year with Brighton) and above with a two-year jewelry warranty and a three-year handbag warranty. Brighton's warranty page describes the same perk as an extra year on jewelry and handbags for VIP Insiders.

Brighton's help pages word the handbag term a little differently from one article to the next, so confirm your exact coverage with Brighton Consumer Care at 800-628-7687 before you count on it.

How do I become a Brighton Insider?

Sign up free online at brighton.com or in any Brighton Collectibles store. Every Insider gets a birthday surprise and free gift wrapping. The higher tiers — BFF, Brightonista, Brighton VIP and VIP Plus — are based on how much you spend in a calendar year.

Do my Accents Boutique purchases count toward my Brighton Insider tier?

Brighton doesn't say. Insider status is tracked in your Brighton account, and Brighton does not publish whether purchases from independent Brighton retailers count toward it. Call Brighton Consumer Care at 800-628-7687 to ask.

Either way, keep your Accents receipt — proof of purchase is what any warranty claim needs, and we can look up a lost one for you at 830-693-7573.

What Counts and What Doesn't

What exactly does the warranty cover?

Brighton lists four things: faulty clasps or closures, broken chains or straps due to poor workmanship, loose or uneven stitching, and structural flaws caused during production.

What is not covered?

Normal wear and tear, accidental damage such as drops, spills and breaks, misuse or improper care, and lost items.

My necklace broke — is that a defect or is that wear?

It depends on how it failed, and Brighton evaluates each piece individually. A clasp that stops closing or a chain that gives way from poor workmanship falls on the covered side. A snag, a drop, or a break from catching on something generally does not.

Send clear photos to Brighton at consumercare@brighton.com and let them make the call — that is the fastest route to an answer.

What happens if my piece can't be repaired under warranty?

Brighton replaces it. For what it's worth, they note that only about 2% of the jewelry they sell ever needs repair.

Proof, Owners and Gifts

Do I need my receipt?

Proof of purchase helps a great deal, and Brighton asks for it when you submit a repair request.

If you bought the piece here at Accents and can't find your receipt, call us at 830-693-7573. We can look up your purchase and send you a copy.

Is the warranty transferable if I give the piece as a gift?

Brighton's jewelry and eyewear warranties are written for the original owner. If you are giving a piece as a gift, tuck the receipt in with it — that is the simplest way to make sure the person receiving it can use the coverage.

Where do I go first, Brighton or Accents?

Either. Call us at 830-693-7573 and we will help you work out whether it's a warranty claim and what to send. You can also go straight to Brighton Consumer Care at 800-628-7687, Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM Pacific.
